Meaning of Sphere: "of influence, of interest, and of wholeness and formed" - Karma Chime Shore

Upcoming Events:

Leander Kane

"All of our past experiences are stored in the body becoming our habitual patterns. Through gentle movement explorations we can release these patterns and open to our true strength and naturalness.
An interesting and amazing transformation can take place which often surprises. Learning to recognise the wholesome qualities of mind that come forth from exploring in this way and resting in them deepens insight into the nature of mind. We become an embodiment of the present moment. A new found confidence emerges and continues to grow as we bring this empowering way of working into our lives."

Leander Kane

Dana: In the Buddhist tradition the Teacher is not paid but is supported through the generosity of the community so they can continue to pass on the Teachings. A dana bowl will be set out at the classes. Money we place in the bowl not only expresses gratitude and support for the Teacher, but for The Teaching itself. When deciding how much to offer, think about the value of these classes to you and try to give accordingly. Realising that this is Tarchin's sole source of income, please give as generously as you are able.

Instructions for the Lions Club: The club is in a little park on the edge of the Waitemata Golf Club. Park on Allenby Ave, Devonport near the driveway into the park marked by the large purple sign for the scouts. Walk into the driveway. The Lions Club room is the furthest building from the road out of the three buildings and is a two toned green wooden building.

Urban Retreat with Tarchin Hearn

The urban retreat format is a series of classes spread over several days. Classes will take place on Saturday and Sunday mornings and then Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. In each class we will consider themes and possibilities for cultivating easeful presence and lucid creative action in the midst of our day to day lives. The heart of buddhadharma is not so much something to be studied, but something to be lived. With this in mind, Tarchin encourages Urban Retreaters to commit to the entire 5 days so that the process can build a momentum and have some significant impact on how we live. The urban retreat format will allow us to explore our experience and our practice of the theme together during the week.

Residential Retreat with Tarchin Hearn

The residential retreat format is designed to allow deepening of the practice to occur within a secluded and peaceful setting . Classes will take place on the Friday night, Saturday and Sunday mornings and we will work together at other times of the weekend also.

Retreatants will be encouraged to refrain from talking with others during the weekend. However to quote Tarchin: "Retreat is a time for so much more than just refraining from talking while engaging in disciplined effort. Retreat is precious opportunity to cultivate a continuity of patience thorough listening and deep empathic experiencing. Setting aside our habitual use of verbal communication will support an ambiance in which we can become more sensitive to the wisdom and stories and singings of our bodies and minds, as they commune with the embodied minds of all the other beings that together compose this extraordinary mystery of life."

All meals will be provided and each person will have their own room.
